Internet Firms Address China Practices
Internet Firms Address China Practices
Now here's an article full of irony. The U.S. government officials are lecturing business leaders about cooperating with the government of China. The part I find ironic is that the businesses are doing exactly what they were setup to do, which is to create a product/service and sell it for a profit. The businesses are trying to do this while obeying the laws of each country in which it operates. Now the U.S. government, the primary promoters of democracy, is giving the business leaders a good chastising on not fighting censorship.
Personally, I think that communism is a form of government. If the U.S. government has issues with another form of government then those issues should be resolved through governmental means. Being an average citizen in the U.S. I don't see the government doing much to resolve issues with the government of China. Given this point of view, I do find it ironic that these government leaders can hold hearings and basically lambast business for not doing enough to fight communism.
