Mozilla - Home of the Firefox web browser, Thunderbird e-mail client and Mozilla Suite
I have been a big fan of open source software. Now I have converted to using as many open source programs as possible. One of my favorites is the Firefox web browser. I have been using Firefox since its early versions and have been impressed with it from the start. It has since made its first public release and has been a huge success. The browser market is now interesting again. Since Microsoft put Netscape out of business, development on Internet Explorer has stopped. There have been some IE patches where really required but no new features since the demise of Netscape. Now Firefox has changed the browser market and browsing is interesting again.
Another open source application that I have been using is Thunderbird, which is the e-mail client from Mozilla. Thunderbird is not as good as Firefox but it is getting better. I have have replaced Outlook Express with it. OE is in the same boat as IE. Microsoft has ignored it for several years. Thunderbird is quite capable and its open architecture should make it a winner.
